Welcome to TTFW's E-update for July 2008

TTFW is working hard to make sure the Welsh tourism industry is provided with training solutions and on-line information that are of real practical help in developing and sustaining competitive businesses. Through our regular e updates we shall be letting you know what's available and how you can access it. In return, please send us your feedback both on the newsletter and on our activities, so we can make sure we are concentrating our efforts on what matters most to the industry.

How our Regional HRD Coordinators can help tourism businesses identify and meet their skills needs
Progress on the new Croeso programme, designed to ensure that our visitors receive a warm and distinctively Welsh welcome
The introduction of the Triple A Chef's Awards targeted on raising the level of practical cooking skills of new chefs

		Improve your welcome with ‘Croeso’. Good customer service is the route to a successful tourism industry The Tourism Training Forum for Wales (TTFW) has been undertaking the development of a new customer service programme for the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) to drive forward the tourism industry in Wales. The customer service programme under development will be entitled ‘Croeso Cynnes – A Warm Welcome’ and this will be part of a larger programme of support encompassing a ‘Sense of Place’ and the use of the Welsh language. 				TTFW has started work on an exciting new programme of chef training in Wales. Responding to high demand from chefs for more robust practical qualifications and higher levels of technical skills, we have teamed up with the Welsh Culinary Association and Cambrian Training Company to pilot AAA in Wales. 				The Medrwn Team has now been in place for over 4 years and to date they have delivered over 330 courses across Mid Wales, helping over 1100 businesses and over 1650 individuals through a variety of different courses and events. Read More...

				South East Wales Alice Brown has been HRD Coordinator for tourism in South East Wales since March. Based in Cardiff in the Capital Region Tourism offices, her role is to facilitate skills development amongst tourism businesses in order to increase the quality and competitiveness of tourism. Her focus so far has been on establishing contact with the trade via Tourism Associations and clusters, running pilot training courses before the busy summer season and forming links with local training providers.
